Company description

VAULTED AG is a Swiss deep-tech start-up born from research at ETH Zurich and the Empa innovation ecosystem. We combine world-class engineering, computational design, digital fabrication and advanced manufacturing to rethink how buildings are designed and delivered.

Our core technology, the Rippmann Floor System® (RFS), reduces structural mass by up to 70%, steel use by up to 90%, and embodied carbon by up to 75% compared with conventional concrete slabs.

As we scale from pioneering projects to repeatable international delivery and commercial growth across Switzerland, Belgium, the UK and the US, we are looking for an exceptional Project Manager to take ownership of VAULTED projects once they move from commercial opportunity into execution.

Role description

Your job is simple to describe, but challenging to do exceptionally well: make sure we deliver what we promised.

You will be the central point of contact connecting our customers with VAULTED’s engineering, design, operations and commercial teams as well as external suppliers and project partners. You will create structure where there is ambiguity, anticipate problems before they become critical, keep decisions and people moving, and ensure customers feel that their project is in safe hands.

This role requires someone who is highly structured and driven, but equally strong with people: someone who builds trusted relationships, listens and understands different perspectives, while also being comfortable setting boundaries, challenging constructively and holding people to commitments.

At VAULTED, you’ll join a highly international and interdisciplinary team with a strong culture of collaboration, trust and individual ownership. You’ll have significant responsibility from day one and help shape not only individual projects, but also how VAULTED delivers projects as we scale.

What you’ll do

• Own project delivery: Lead VAULTED projects from commercial handover through successful delivery, keeping scope, milestones, responsibilities, timelines and quality on track.
• Lead the customer relationship: Be the main point of contact for customers and key project stakeholders. Build trust, manage expectations proactively and handle difficult conversations with clarity and confidence.
• Create clarity and momentum: Turn complex situations into clear decisions, actions, owners and deadlines. Identify risks and bottlenecks early, remove blockers and escalate where needed.
• Coordinate teams and partners: Bring together VAULTED’s engineering, design, operations and commercial teams as well as suppliers and external project partners, ensuring everyone is aligned and moving towards the same goal.
• Maintain project control: Keep a clear overview of project plans, risks, changes, resources and budgets, track project costs and margins, and ensure commercial implications are identified and addressed early.
• Improve how we deliver: Capture lessons from projects and help build better processes, standards and tools as VAULTED scales.

What you’ll bring

• Excellent project management: You have successfully owned complex projects with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and meaningful customer expectations.
• Exceptional ownership and organisation: You create structure naturally, anticipate what is needed, follow through reliably and make things happen without requiring constant direction.
• High empathy and high standards: You build strong relationships, listen well and understand different perspectives, while also being comfortable setting boundaries, challenging constructively and holding people to commitments.
• Strong customer and stakeholder skills: You communicate clearly and confidently with customers, technical experts, suppliers and senior stakeholders and can influence decisions without formal authority.
• Sound judgement: You can navigate ambiguity, identify what really matters, anticipate risks and know when to solve a problem directly and when to escalate.
• Languages and location: You are fluent in English and German and are based in, or willing to relocate to, the Zurich area. Swiss German is an advantage. The role is primarily based in Dübendorf, with travel to project and construction sites in Switzerland and abroad.

What would make you stand out

• Experience in construction, engineering, architecture or another technically complex industry.
• Experience delivering physical or engineered products, particularly in prefabrication, structural systems, concrete, timber, façade systems or modular construction.
• Experience working directly with architects, engineers, contractors, developers, manufacturers or construction suppliers.
• Experience in a start-up or scale-up environment where processes and responsibilities are still evolving.
• A strong interest in sustainable construction and technology.
