To succeed the current director of the CPPS, who is retiring, the School of Engineering of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis is inviting applications for the following position within its Institute of Systems Engineering:
Professor UAS and director of the Earthquake Prevention Learning Centre (CPPS) Position description
- Scientific and operational management of the CPPS at the Energypolis campus.
- Development and implementation of the CPPS strategy in alignment with cantonal policy, the strategic priorities of relevant cantonal services and research institutes active in the field of natural hazards.
- Acquisition, management and implementation of relevant research and innovation projects within the Institute of Systems Engineering.
- Development and delivery of relevant continuing education programmes at CAS level.
- Expansion of partnerships at national and international level.
- Design and coordination of educational activities delivered within the CPPS.
- Promotion of the CPPS.
Selection criteria
- Tertiary qualification in natural hazards or seismology.
- Proven track record in the acquisition and management of projects.
- Demonstrated experience in education.
- Strong interest in natural hazard prevention.
- Ability to establish and develop institutional and academic partnerships.
- Active participation in the applied research ecosystem of the Energypolis campus.
- Excellent command of French and English; knowledge of German would be a strong asset.
Starting date during 2026 (by agreement)
